Metrico shifting demographics to the PC

Infographic-based puzzle-platformer Metrico will be hopping its way onto PC as Metrico. Metrico was a rather unusual little PlayStation Vita platformer that had you traversing the world through infographics, which… tracked a lot of things. Like, you pressing buttons, or tilting the Vita. These presses and movements fed into the infographics that made up the levels, barring your path or opening up routes; figuring out what was being tracked and how to use this to get around the obstacles was of primary importance. It was also free on PlayStation Plus, which got it quite a...

Just Cause 3’s E3 gameplay footage now o...

Avalanche Studios have sneaked seven minutes of high-explosive Just Cause 3 gameplay footage onto the internet, like the rebels they are. These narrated seven minutes are pulled from the E3 showfloor presentation and show off the sort of driving, flying, swooping, grappling, shooting, and exploding that you’ll be able to do in the full version. Of particular note are “making a statue slap itself”, “using a jet as a really big bomb”, and “driving through a patch of sunflowers.” What? The sunflowers are pretty. I like that you can drive through fields of flowers. Stop...

The Flock will eventually stop being pla...

Every multiplayer title runs the risk of its playerbase dwindling to the point where nobody can play it again. But in The Flock, the game becoming permanently unplayable is a design point. Essentially, there is a pool of lives, shared by every player. Every time a player dies in game, this pool drops by one. When the pool hits zero, the game will be removed from digital storefronts, and can no longer be purchased. At this point, only players with the game in their Steam library will be able to take part in the “climactic finale”, and once that finale happens, the game...

WISDOM OF NYM: FINAL FANTASY XIV: HEAVEN...

Heavensward has been out a bit more than a month now if you count the launch of early access as the “real” launch of the expansion. But we’ve only just had Esoterics added into the game, and we’re finally at the point when the weekly resets are in full force. That month of grace time is over, and we’re into the period when the game needs to keep people occupied for the next two or three months until the next patch, and so on. At this point, we don’t know when the next Final Fantasy XIV patch will actually be coming out (my money is October, enough time to fill out an...

SKYFORGE PLANS MAJOR POST-LAUNCH PATCH

Skyforge’s shaky quasi-launch is starting to settle down, as the team has added more hardware and improvements to increase server stability. Even better, the devs have announced that they’re hard at work for the next major patch, which should be coming soon. Patch 0.65 will add several new and improved features to the game, including 10-player distortion arenas, large-scale invasion events, five-player anomalies, two 10-player raids, guild tweaks, and a divine form for player characters. If that’s not enough, the team said that there’s even more that will go into the...

What the hell was Rocksteady thinking wi...

For the purposes of an upcoming project, I’m working towards a 100% completion rate in Knight, and I’m running into a wall, much like Jordan did a few weeks back. I have roughly 80 more riddles to go of 315 (some are grouped up to make the actual total less, more on that awfulness later), and I felt the burn ages ago. First, let’s take a brief look at the other games in the series to see how it measures up. It was slightly annoying to have “Catwoman only” trophies in Arkham City, but that game never took it to this level — plus, Riddler...

There’s Still No Plan For The God of Pet...

Peter Molyneux’s Curiosity experiment ended with a whimper. It basically functioned as a giant advertisement for the “God of Gods” feature in then-upcoming god game revival Godus. Years later, there are still no plans for how they’ll actually, you know, do any of it. The God of Gods feature would’ve seen Bryan Henderson, the winner of Curiosity, “become a digital god.” It would’ve been “life-changing,” according to Molyneux, at least insofar as Henderson would’ve made a cut of Godus’ earnings for as long as he remained God of Gods. Years later, it still hasn’t...

Join Tomorrow’s Stress Test Event For Sk...

Obsidian Entertainment are inviting players to participate in Skyforge‘s first ever Open Beta testing period next week but for those of us with a little less patience, there’s an opportunity to dive into a stress test event scheduled to take place tomorrow, Tuesday 7th, and continuing through until Thursday at 9AM Eastern. The purpose of the stress test event is to better prepare the team and server technology for the huge wave of players expected to arrive with the Open Beta launch. This week also marks the last opportunity for Founder’s Pack owners to get in game...
